Referred and Found

Referred and Found

Get referred by the people your clients already trust.

Then survive being checked. $6,500 a month with no minimum term.

For US law firms in employment law, IP and patent, commercial litigation, and corporate and M&A.

Two halves, and neither works alone

The first half creates the referral. The second half stops it being wasted when the buyer looks you up.

They’re one price because they only work together. A referral channel feeding a firm that looks unclear online loses what it builds, and a polished firm with no channel has nothing arriving.

The first half: the people who see the matter before you do

Somebody is already advising your client, for money, before a legal matter exists. Those people are your referral channel and most firms never work them.

For an employment practice, your client is an HR director, a COO or a founder. The people already in the room with them:

  • PEOs and outsourced HR providers. They hold the employment relationship and see risk before anyone.
  • EPLI and commercial insurance brokers. They underwrite the exposure.
  • Benefits brokers. Their renewal conversations surface classification questions.
  • HR consultants and fractional CHROs. They get hired when something is already wrong.

There’s a map like that for each of the 4 practices I work in. Each quarter I take one channel from your map and work it end to end. That means identifying them in your market, working out what they need, and making the introduction that makes sense to them.

You keep the map, the contact list and everything written for it.

The second half: what happens when they check you

Hinge Research surveyed 523 professional services buyers in 2015, of whom 6.7% were in legal. Those buyers were asked why they ruled out a firm they’d been referred to. The most common reason was a lack of clarity about what the firm actually does.

It’s fixable, and most firms never look.

So the second half is the unglamorous part. Where you rank on the searches that carry real matter value, and what the 7 directories say about you. Those 7 are Chambers, Legal 500, Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers, Martindale, Avvo and Justia. Two things worth saying plainly. Martindale and Avvo are run by the same company, so they are 7 records rather than 7 independent opinions. And Chambers and Legal 500 work on annual editorial cycles, so I can keep your record there accurate, but their ranking moves on their schedule once a year, not on mine.

What month 1 looks like

Here’s the sentence most vendors won’t put in writing. Month 1 produces a baseline and no claims. I don’t claim anything has moved before month 3.

A firm that wants a result by week 3 should not buy this, and I’d rather say so now than take the money.

What actually happens:

  1. I measure your baseline over a rolling 2 to 4 week window, at 7 runs per search, across 5 engines.
  2. The 5 are Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. That’s what my code runs. Anyone quoting you a bigger number should be asked which ones.
  3. I map every search that carries real matter value for you, sized against your own average matter value.
  4. I sort those searches by where you rank, and sweep all 7 directories for what they say about you.
  5. I build your referrer map and we agree which channel the first quarter works.

You get the baseline in writing, with the method attached, and the referrer map alongside it.

What happens every month after

WeekWhat gets done
1Re-measure on a rolling window closing that week: citation audit at 7 runs per search across 5 engines, your rank on every matter-bearing search, and a directory accuracy sweep
Query triage. Every search sorted into worth working now, worth fixing first, or not worth your money
2 and 3Off-site authority work, and directory corrections across the 7. I find the errors, and I submit the corrections wherever a directory lets me act for you. Where it doesn’t, I write the correction and your team submits it
The quarter’s referrer channel: outreach, the material it needs, and the introductions it produces
4The report, covering what the numbers say this month and what changed since last month, with the arithmetic behind every figure

The report goes out every month, including months 1 and 2. It reports measurements every month, and calls a result only once the series is long enough to read.

What it costs

One price, month to month.

Nobody is on this retainer today. You’d be the first, and that’s a real risk to you. It’s the reason there’s no term and no notice period: the only thing keeping you is whether the reports are worth reading.

What I do not do

Nobody can guarantee an AI citation or a ranking. What I guarantee is the work: the measurement runs, the triage happens, the directories get corrected, and the report arrives with its arithmetic showing.

The off-site authority work is in the cycle because those signals moved alongside visibility in one published study. I haven’t verified that link myself, so I describe it as work and nothing more.

I never get access to your website, and I never ask for it. Anything meant for your own site comes to you to publish. Anything going out under your firm’s name anywhere else gets a bar advertising screen first. That covers directory records, third-party mentions and referrer material. A person reads it against the rules in your state.

I keep nothing. The measurements, the reports, the referrer map and the work product are yours.

Questions firms ask

Who am I dealing with?

Vinay Koshy. I run CitedCounsel on my own, so you deal with me and not an account manager.

How many engines, exactly?

5, and I’ll name them every time: Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity. That’s what my code measures.

Is there a guarantee?

Nobody can guarantee an AI citation, because AI answers rotate month to month on pages nobody has touched. What I guarantee is that the work ships and the report tells you the truth.

What if it isn’t working?

By month 3 you’ll have 3 reports and a series you can read. If it says nothing is moving, it says so in the same arithmetic as every other month, and you decide. There’s no term to get out of and no notice to give.

Who implements things on our own site?

You do, or whoever runs your site does. I write what’s needed and hand it over. I never touch your website, which means nothing changes there without your people doing it.

Did you use AI to write this?

The measurement is automated. The writing is AI-assisted and a person reads every word before it carries your firm’s name.

We already pay for Chambers and Super Lawyers and it does nothing.

Those are annual editorial cycles and paid placements. A profile can be corrected. A ranking cannot be bought or accelerated, by me or by anyone else. What I do is keep your records accurate in the places AI answers actually read.

Request a call.

The form asks for your name, your email and a message, and it comes straight to me. In the message, tell me your firm, the city and state you practice in, and what prompted you to look.

On the call I’ll show you what the measurement looks like on your own firm. Then I’ll say whether I think it’s worth $6,500 a month to you.

If you’d rather see a measurement before you talk to anyone, the Free Search Check does that and costs nothing.
